Frequently Asked QuestionsDon't see what you're looking for here? We'd love to help, please email your unanswered question and we'll respond right away! What service areas do you cover? We service all zip codes of Virginia Beach. We do not cover any other cities at this time, as we do not want to be too far from our home base if an issue arises with a Virginia Beach client. We do not currently plan to expand outside of Virginia Beach.
What does it mean when you say you're licensed, bonded and insured?Bonding insulates the home/pet owner from any theft or criminal activity by the employees of the bonded company and ensures that losses from these activities will be reimbursed to you by our bonding company. Naturally, we don't care for our bonding company to pay out such embarrassing claims, so this is another way of saying we have only the most responsible employees! We are also fully insured to cover damages from accidents if caused by employees of our company. Our insurance and bonding is covered by the Business Insurers of the Carolinas. Finally, we also carry a business license issued by the City of Virginia Beach. We're glad to show you all three at our Comfort and Care Consultation!
Can I board or kennel my pet with you?We do not offer boarding facilities. We believe that in-home pet sitting is the best, safest and least stressful option for almost all pets and their owners and this is why we have chosen not to offer boarding.
What will happen at the Comfort and Care Consultation? One or more pet sitters will come to your home to meet you and your pets, and answer any questions you may have regarding our service. You'll get to know who will be spending time in your home and with your pets. We will then firm up what you need, when you need it and go over the contract with you. Once you are satisfied, we'll ask if you want to complete the contract process, confirm your contact information so we can check in while you're gone, ensure all paperwork is understood by both parties, and pick up copies of your house keys. You are in no way obligated to sign any contractual paperwork unless and until you decide you want to hire us! Once on file with us, your contract never needs to be re-issued or re-signed unless you have a change of address.
I'd like to request a consultation before every departure, can I do that?Yes, of course! Please note there will be a charge of $15 for to cover the pet sitter's time and fuel for each follow up consultation.
What results can I expect with daily dog walking or pet sitting? When you have a sitter coming in while you're at work to walk your dogs, or for more home-style care while you're away on vacation, you can let go of the guilt we all feel leaving them home alone on long days or even several days. Pets need stimulation and attention, and boredom and loneliness can result in sadness and even separation anxiety. We prefer to assign a single sitter (though we always have back-up sitters if an emergency arises) for each home so that the pets and sitter may bond as another way of alleviating pet stress. We can't place enough emphasis on loving interaction with your pets. Our sitters will provide showers of affection, exercise and the very best care for your babies - just as we would want for our own pets. We will keep your home clean, and pick up any accidents that may have occurred during your absence. We'll be sure to let you know how they're doing on your terms, whether it be by text message, email or phone call. We love to take pictures, so if you've got a multimedia phone, we will likely send many pictures! You will be contacted instantly in the event of illness/injury, an emergency, unusual activity near or in your home, or any other timely issue that arises. We will take care of your pets and home in exactly the manner you have requested, to allow your pets to be as happy and healthy as if you were home.
What time of day can I request and for how long will a sitter visit? You may opt for as many appointments per day as you would like, we will customize your schedule around your needs. We will ensure the visits are spaced appropriately for your pet's needs. For two visits a day, we never allow longer than 12 hours to go by for dog visits, particularly if they have no access to the outdoors. If you were to book 3 visits per day, we would arrive every 8 hours. Visit lengths will depend upon your wishes. We offer 30 minute, 45 minute, and 1 hour appointments. We also provide overnight visits as an option, where a sitter would be in your home for 10 hours with your pets. You have the option of requesting a mixture of appointment lengths, or all the same length. Our recommendations: For dogs, we recommend a minimum of two visits per day. If you think your dog can't make it 12 hours, it would be better to have 3 visits per day. For cats and other "lesser needs" animals, we will accept a minimum of 1 visit per day. We will not skip days. If at any time we feel there are insufficient visits scheduled for your pet, we will consult with you to let you know what is happening and to help work out something more amenable to you and your pet's needs.
What should I do if I have an issue with my assigned sitter? Please don't hesitate to call (757) 553-6687 so that we may absolve your concerns immediately! We will handle the issue quickly and with discretion, we want our clients to be happy and concern-free at all times.
May I give a tip to my sitter?Gratuity, tips or gifts are never expected, but are always appreciated by our sitters. Any tips or gifts given or left for a sitter will be distributed to that sitter in their entirety.
Why are there holiday fees? This holiday fee is a thank you to our sitters for working on a holiday that others are with their families. All holiday fee proceeds go directly to the sitters.
What discounts do you offer? We extend discounts to active duty and retired military personnel, all first responders, teachers and animal rescuers. This discount is 10% off all sitting or walking services, but does not apply to holiday fees, specialty services or fuel surcharges.
